The Physiological Aspects of Learning - "Mozart's Brain and the Fighter Pilot"
Whether you call it "Mozart's Brain and the Fighter Pilot" or "Mark Twain's
Brain and the Nuclear Worker," either way, a greater understanding of how
the brain works will create improved success in the classroom. In this
section, we will learn about such topics as the relationship between level
of stimulation and learning efficiency, preventing atrophy of large sections
of the brain with repetitive tasks, and how to best leverage both sides of
the brain in the classroom and the plant.
The presenter will be Bob Coovert, Manager of Human Performance for Exelon
Corporation. He has spoken both nationally and internationally to nuclear
and non-nuclear industry groups. Additionally, he has participated in
international evaluations of nuclear plants world-wide with both the
International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) and the World Organization of
Nuclear Operators (WANO) as well as within the United States in Cooperation
with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO).
